Consistency and Tenacity...The Engine Behind Your Author Career
...if you want to write and publish a novel...then don’t stop. Keep moving. Consistency, not “brilliance” is what saves the day.
I’ve not been writing consistently the past few weeks, and it’s frustrating, but that’s part of life. Now that my husband’s music studio is done, life around here is getting back to normal, including my schedule.
I’ve never found it easy getting back into a routine, but it will only take a solid week of writing before I’m back into the swing of things, including writing a brand new short story every week.
In the meantime, this week’s short is a flash I wrote almost ten years ago. Where did the time go?
Keep Writing
Which brings me to the topic of this newsletter…keep writing.
Don’t give up.
If you want to build a career as an author, or even if you want to write and publish a novel, just to say you’ve done it, then don’t stop. Keep moving. Consistency, not “brilliance” is what saves the day.
Honor your gift by taking the time to sit down and write what ONLY YOU can write and you’ll be so thankful that you did.
I know I always am.
And, add a little tenacity to the mix and you will see amazing things happen.
It’s not just me, fledgling author saying this. It’s true for anything you endeavor to accomplish.
Focus on consistently putting words on the page and sending them out into the world. You’ll get better with each new story, and if you try to have fun with it, you’ll enjoy the journey along the way.
This is where tenacity enters the picture. Don’t stop, keep practicing, and understand that you will fail sometimes. So what? Just pick yourself back up, and get back to the writing.
That’s what I’m doing…what has consistency and tenacity gifted you with?
